Idk how y'all out here simping for Dowun's sketchy ass. He isn't catching feelings, he's catching a case of fear from his power over MC slipping. It's also really strange to see everyone claiming he's the ENTIRE reason she's on the throne because uh last time I checked my girl was pulling her own damn weight, struggling and progressing intently. To invalidate her own effort and tangible persistence like that is pretty ignorant. First of all, Dowun wouldn't have gotten anywhere without MC, he wouldve just ended up another official, it was only blind luck that led them to each other. None of the other princesses would've ever qualified to persist doggedly like MC did BECAUSE she had nothing.

Dowun isn't romantic, he isn't admirable, all he is, is a fantastic cog that's good at playing his role. And so far, from what I've been shown, all he is after, is power.
He might develop a bit, but I don't think he's redeemable and I don't think he's cute. He is the very essence of the male stepmother, manipulative and controlling. He is only concerned with the empresses well being so far as what will effect her image and by proxy his own. He doesn't keep her at all aware of the affairs within the palace and views her exactly how his younger brother astutely pointed out: as a tool.
