No. Sorry to disagree, but that's exactly why his mother died. For him. So he can live, be happy, love, be loved... If she'd be watching him from some place in the afterlife I bet she's going crazy right now. Cuz, who cares what other's think how I died. I'd want him to be happy above all. So he NEEDS to choose the path that'll make him happy, not the path that'll make my/her death look more altruistic.
He'd even taint her sacrifice if he'd choose against his path to happiness.
It's not about what others think of her death it's how he copes with her death and that is hard to tell a person to move on from after losing his parents. Of course what she would want for him is to stay with Caius but his mother's death is a deep emotional crutch on him he has to break on his own. Hes still a young adult that's been living with that weight on his own. It's going to take him seeing that his happiness with his new family, with Caius and the kingdom, is the same happiness he felt with his parents in another form. The want to make his life great in that world she died in is his validation more to himself than to her. That he can make that sacrifice too, she worked with no help so he also doesnt ask for help, not even from the uncle. Of course he will choose his happiness but you gotta understand hearing that about his mother is gonna make him emotionally irrational.
Sure thing. It'll have an impact on him. But it doesn't change the fact that his choice is wrong. He knows what his mother did for him and that's that. That won't change. Leaving for that reason would spoil his mother's sacrifice in a way.
(If he changed his mind the moment he calms down a bit and starts thinking clearly, fair enough. But I think the story will lead more to something like him sticking to that nonsense of a reason and change that only after he returned OR bc he figures out that something bad will happen to Caius and he can't have that.)
To put it all in a nutshell: Him returning would be absolutely meaningless. If not worse.
I don't think its meaningless, so I'll agree to disagree on that considering all he had to give up in the first place , beyond just his mother dilemma. He worked hard in school, was getting his life together, had his own home, had an uncle and cousins that loved him, a best friend that stuck through with him since childhood through this trauma. Even the potential of love and who knows what else cuz the work ethic he adopted from her. Of course that world is appealing but there is alot left in that world he needs to settle and say goodbye too before he even makes a huge decision like that. Not just his mom, the fact him thinking of his friend made him depressed is not a good sign. Besides I'd rather he does go home or at least crosses the dimension to home but fights his way back to further show if that love he built for Caius was one of genuine nature. He did just randomly get pulled from his bed and forced on. Of course Ik this is yaoi and things get a little dubious lol but still that just is a thing that should be considered. Ill be vague but an example is like in the anime Inuyasha, the couple split for reasons and she couldnt return to him for 3 years and their love just grew over time no matter the time. It became solidified.
