I don't get it; they noticed that the kids back in earlier chapters were just mean kids playing adults, so why is it that when another kid does something similar, they just accept it? 'Oh look, you're not in a book that was probably published before your birth, you're such lowborns'

Isnt it obvious he's also a mean kid playing at repeating what the adults said?
But for the sake of drama, they suddenly react with more grief ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

Because the other kids were assholes from the beginning, but this child is actually being nice to them. If a person i wanna be friends said something mean to me i would be sad too

also that kid said that the book was last updated the year before he had brought it to them. To not have a single thing about them or their mother in there would have just beat in what they were already feeling, if only they knew why there is no documentation of their existence and were kept away.

It's like- even if they initially didnt trust their family, I'm feeling so annoyed that they easily put their trust in strangers
They had no business believing some book a random guy they met yesterday brought to them though?
It would have been fine if, at most, they were sad because what the guy said was mean, but they had a whole outburst that just benefits the plot
