The way I see it, he wants absolute power and control; and to do that he’d need an empress that he can use and manipulate (Someone like Psyche). But Medea is too smart- too cunning- and also strives for power. She’d probably help him but only for her own merit. Instead of an ally, he’d fear her

But he initially chose to kill psyche and tried to transfer her holy powers into a necklace. Showing that he never thought of psyche more than a powered up bandaid. She's groomed to be the dumbest girl in history and he used her naivete. If Medea hadn't been in her body, psyche would have been dead and ialos would have gotten holy powers. After that.. he'd most likely take medea as a wife for political reasons. But he'd not have to worry about anything because he'd be out of harms way.
Ialos is really smart. Combine his smartness with invincibility and he'd be able to make a religion out of his greatness

I agree with everything except for the taking Medea in as a wife part. He wanted to frame Medea for psyche’s murder. He probably would have taken another wife who was just as naive as psyche was. Then he would have holy powers, a powerful enemy out of his way, and a naive wife who he could manipulate.

I completely agree except the “wouldn’t harm him part” not that I’m saying that she would. What I was trying to get at before was that he’d fear her abilities, what she’d do, not exactly fears her. I mean she’s already shown that she’s smart enough to manipulate things around her to get what she wants, what’s one man to her?
