Both Ilya and Liza are the empresses to the current current emperor, empress Liza was never married to the dukes father

So basically the original emperor had a son, his wife dying in childbirth. His son was Ian. Then that emperor died so his throne was given to his younger brother the current emperor. He married Ilya first and loves her a lot however she wasn’t able to conceive children so he was pressured into marrying Liza who then gave birth to prince Louie. The current emperor wants to give the throne to Ian whilst empress Liza wants her son to have the throne
