Actually he already shown signs of letting neria go after knowing she likes nero, his friend whom he trust.
But then nero said something out of line hurting neria who selflessly only wants to care about him even when she's already reject, and not even asking for anything in return.
Nero deserves someones slap. He didn't end his friendship with nero. He just gave him a slap of reality of how he starts to treat others
