I think he's the reincarnation of the dragon. As the story says, the dragons have always been known for their vicious temper - and he's probably not exactly human. I bet he also grew lonely because his mother died early and his father was a tyrant. Not to justify his actions, but this probably explains why he acts the way he does.

I physically reject Aquila, first of all I know the weird personality switch when he’s in front of lamia and he gets soft and meek but then he’s cold and deadly when he’s talking to other people, But it pisses me off so much, he glares at Uriel, then lamia has to step in and then he says stuff like “sorry... ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~“ I HATE IT SO MUCH.
