Akira is just distressed, he's used to having to be in charge of his department section. And he's getting stuck into his head space, which is a consistent part of his character, he has anxiety. It's not jsut him being difficult, he's just a nervous anxious mess, and is worried if he's overreacting or not if he brings it up with his husband, especially since his husband is essentially one of the heads of his workplace.
