Yeah, that actually bothers me quite a bit since prolonged exposure to allergens usually worsens the reactions instead of creating immunity. It is NOT like building tolerance to a poison. The allergy worsens the more you expose your body to the allergen. I wish the author had researched a bit more before using this as a plot point.
