If anyone bothers to read this.

This is my theory on who the dark lord is. A lot of people are thinking that he's Jesus which I personally didn't think about until seeing the comments. He could be Jesus but I have another person in mind which I strongly believe he's the dark lord or at least a reference for the dark lord. Just a small pointer that could be dismissed but ill say it anyway. Christianity is a the minority in Japan, less than 1%. Buddhist and Shinto is the majority. After rewatching drifters recently I said to myself as most readers and watchers would. I asked who the hell could the dark king be? He's in a white robe and only has a staff in his hand. Not much to him more than his powers of healing. But you know what something about him does stand out. The staff he carries with him. Another thought that filled my head when I wondered about him was that he had to be a Japanese figure. Throughout the manga, we can see that the Japanese outnumber the others and they are people we've heard of at least once before. Back to the staff he carries. At the end of it, we can see that it's a dragonfly. As the only clue, I took it to google and found the first emperor of Japan, Jimmu. He is said to be a direct descendant of Amaterasu. I'm sure we've heard of the sun goddess at least once before. And a descendant of the storm God Susanoo. Jimmu is said to have travelled in order to conquer japan (the dark lord wanting to conquer everything). In chapter 9 you can see the dark king with a bird that I believe is the three legged bird that Amaterasu gave him during his journey. And the end of his travels and him becoming emperor he went on a mountain, overlooked the land and said it looked like a dragonfly which I think explains why he has a dragonfly on his staff. Amaterasu is also referred to as the god of creation or creation itself which links me to believe that the dark lords powers could be linked to this as he can heal and create abundance of food. Also the emperors Posthumous name means god warrior or divine might.Though I’m still unclear as to why the dark lord wants to save monsters as he said (chap 12) he tried to save humans but was denied so he’ll save the monsters instead. The ends obviously had some negative encounters during their lives which fuels their hatred for humans. I could be wrong but I just wanted to share my findings. The dark lord could be Jesus or a reference to jimmu. I couldn’t find anything on his death tho. Either way this is just a theory. I could be wrong.
