They were probably together before 704 lost his memories. I think the author will try to pull the "GM couldn't help himself while having 704 by his side, but knowing that 704 thinks of him as a stranger/ doesn't feel anything for him anymore".
Yeah, I fear that will happen, it would suck, I hate that excuse, it makes no sense. If you love someone for good, you don't do that no matter how much you crave them.
