They weren't only "roommates for a few days", I believe they were bestfriends and classmates during elementary (sorry dunno if that was the term they used but wtvr), then the new Yunifer possessed the old one, so she started avoiding her. In the OG storyline, they were bestfriends even in the academy so it was really villainous of the OG Yunifer because she tried to harm her bestfriend for a decade just for a man.
They aren't childhood friends at all. They FIRST MET at the academy and became best friends because they were roommates and water mages.

Oki, sorry XD. I totally misunderstood, apparently, dumb of me to forget to fact check. Thanks for correcting me totally made everything confusing and irritating for me just like it was to everyone else (≧∀≦)
It's all good. Most of the original story was told in the first few chapters then after that all we got was Ishid and Yunifer ^^; and the only thing that is ever mentioned of the original is Ishid meeting Rael and falling for her but we don't really get explanations of the original plot so it can get confusing.
Rael is disturbingly obsessed and dependent of Yunifer despite only being roommates for a couple of days and not having interacted much... Even if she is lonely the MC didn't give her any real opening for a relationship so why didn't she become friends with others I wonder... Maybe it's because of the story's setting.
Ishid's obsession makes more sense, he was attracted to her for years and then eventually SHE approached him and immediately became intimate so it's o surprise that he became dependent of her emotionally and mentally.
Makes me wonder tho, how exactly did Ishid and Rael end up attracted to each other since they both had relatively messed up mindsets. Was just because their magic was compatible?
