you know, at first i didnt really process it, but the more i think about what the mother did, and the more i analyze what she says in the novel, the more angrier i get. i know your mental wellbeing does not excuse your actions and in every way of pryde was truly an evil person that lashed out in order to make everybody as miserable as her but-

it want really highlighted here but the mother never really believed in pryde. she saw the future the moment she got pregnant with pryde and just,,,, gave up. to quote the novel;

“ Since then I have predicted all sorts of things but only that child in the future is a hopeless case…“

and

“ She doesn’t know if Pryde will actually become the queen in the future and the only thing that she hasn’t told her beloved Albert is that Pryde will definitely become someone who will hurt and condemn those who are less fortunate and weaker than her and that she’ll be that kind of child and has already accepted that no matter how much she loves her, admonish her, the future will never change because no matter how many times she foresees the future it is always the same thing.”

sad part is, in a detached way, i can sort of understand her point of view. theres no point in cultivating a child that would eventually turn out to be evil, in her eyes.

i guess she didnt realize that children arent plants that you can just give up on lol.

and you know whats, in my eyes, truly tragic? the person that she should be most apologetic to is, in the sense thats most relevant, dead

    I get your point. Only, if the child was so hopeless, why didn’t the kill her at birth. Considering this family’s track record, that would be the most prudent way of dealing with a “hopeless case”. That she got labelled as a f**king baby and then left to make prophecy true basically means the Queen was ok setting her own daughter up as the villain right from bloody conception. And I can’t accept that.

    I’m just ranting. Not saying you implied that or anything. You comment just made me think of this
