no wonder the og pryde became malicious. She is naturally highly intelligent. However as she was neglected early on, she knew in her brain and heart that her parents didn't love her. it made it clear when no matter how bratty and spoiled she acted, they never once reprimanded her nor encouraged her to act better. she acted self-entitled and spoiled because she was given all this power, not taught how to use it for good, and didn't have people to tell her no. that's bad parenting 101. a more complex reason for doing it, is to gain any sort of recognition from anybody(that she is the center, or she is important) because her whole life is neglected.
