Same! When they first introduced him, he seemed more like a minor of maybe second male lead character. Definitely not the ML though

I don't think it was because of his agressiveness, it was more out of nowhere so I was confused when I heard he was going to be the main lead and when that whole thing with him dating came up. Nowhere along the story line was there an indication that he was going to be the Male Lead, at least that I noticed because there are usually hints in the storyline to give us a vague idea. But I'm guessing the age gap was the biggest factor as to why they're only now throwing signs that it's him.
The age gap was a big thing at first. She was a child and he was an adult when they were first introduced to each other. Another would be his appearance. He's rather normal looking compared to all the other main characters and even some of the side characters have more striking features than he does. He always came off as someone you weren't suppose to notice.

he wasn't flashy enough? I dont personally see the age difference as a problem. but the art style (how tall and broad they made him) had you believing he was older then 8 years her senior
I don't see it as a problem now, but back when she was still a small child it seemed weird to pair them together. I actually thought her brother was going to be her love interest when he was first introduced since it wasn't confirmed as to whether they were actually siblings yet.

I see, sorry if I misunderstood you, and same. I originally thought they would turn out to be not to be related by blood since its an all too common trope in these types of plots
