i think what i hate most about this kind of trope it that the main character is a villain until she starts acting nice and docile and quiet. then suddenly everyones in love with her as if they werent trying to kill her a second ago. it sucks because she deserved love before too :((
The prince I can forgive since he has a backstory and a legitimate reason as to why he treated Penelope like that. He also ends up apologizing which none of the family members (except the second brother) do.
