Although I do think that her not wanting to be the Emperor's love interest because the love interest dies in the story is an interesting twist on the usual cliche, so points to the novel for that bit of originality.
It is disturbing that Leana is so strict on the story's plot. That'd mean that she doesn't think as the emperor and the others as people with their own personality and reason. With that said, it'll be even more weird when she falls for the emperor.
