It's just weird that they can't keep the two apart for me. Like, I've read all sorts of shit since I was younger and I never once thought this way? It's fictional. It's a fantasy. No one is being harmed and if it's triggering then just don't read it?

I absolutely agree with you. Funny thing is it didn't use to be that way when I first became a yaoi fan (a decade ago) . It's in the recent years that people become this toxic. For example up until a couple of years ago no one cares if you shipped celebrities and you get death threats if you so much mention that someone looks cute with someone else they aren't dating or doesn't fit their type. Like wtf people should mind their own damn business and stfu.
