What I got from it is he's just scared. He thought that Cain was a fool for even believing that he could win against Satan. So he tried to join the 'winning' side. Satan made a deal with him, and he took it. I personally have mixed feelings about Sid. Mostly I don't like him. But I understand why he's scared. Hope that cleared some things up!
