I remember reading there really is no scientifically proven aphrodisiac. It is said that there are certain common stimulants but it seems it is closer to fetishes. However, it might be drug something like opium to keep him light headed.

He would have of he didn't choose to end his life. They said the drug was highly addictive and whittled away at his life. Did you not read the chapter? I also glimpsed at the raws and boi be coughing up blood like crazy.

Those are not aphrodisiac. They are hallucinogenic. You can go high on throat spray at 500mg to hallucinations no need to go find a dealer. Opium was pretty accessible for this plot as well. However, aphrodisiac is considered specifically stimulating the sexual related hormones which creates physical arousal against will. But found some academic articles on their "non-existence". But all examples on Internet are stuff like nuts, fruits, drinks.. Yet no compound in them in common to stimulate. The reaction of arousal is specific to person. But as the character here, unless he's a huge masochist, there is no reason for him to get aroused. But possibly too high to react with body heat increase

I don't know that's as far as I could find. If you know anything specific I'd like to check. This is just a interest from a person with no background on health leave pharmaceutical knowledge. But I see this trope a lot
