Dick can be short for Richard in some cases and honestly it doesn't make sense to me either, but I think that the author made his name Dick in the story to be funny, since it's a yaoi comic. Hope this helped :)!!!!

As a non-native speaker, that's something I've been wanting to say every time I see someone with this name... Why would people name their kids with "Dick? Even if is just a short, It's weird so whyy? XD
