From what i understood, the mother of Sakae committed a double suicide with her lover (she had adultery with another man) leaving his father alone in despair unable to create art ... Several years later Sakae meets his father not knowing who he truly is, and falls in love with him ... His father tells him that he regained his source of inspiration that he lost when his love died cuz of him... But to Sakae's surprise the figure that the father inspired from him wasn't of him but of his dead mother, so in the rush of anger and disappointment he breaks the statue... when his father comes and sees it broken.. kills himself to join the mother. And since then Sakae blames himself of his father's (the one he truly loved) death and thinks he killed him.
