Actually wouldn’t that be a better thing for him. I dont think oscar with his personality is fit to be a noble that schemes for power. Like he could probably be happier in that situation.
I agree with this... And based on his family and his own actions, it was the only "good ending" he could have gotten at that point.

I'm just glad that he lives and can start anew without anything binding him anymore. I'm pretty sure he'll be happier with a humble life in the boonies or something.
