I guess, I firmly believe that emperor and empress roles works as a position and no need of wedding vows or be wed to be in that position... And the kingdom seems to be matriarchy one
From what I have understood.. The empress has the right to appoint the emperor and so the current emperor must be appointed by the previous empress or the current due to political alliance... I really suspect of the current emperor's faction of killing the many children (and all of them, in fact) of the empress for the emperor to gain the rights to appoint his linage to be next in line... And I guess the current emperor's factions is strong as ever due to the fact that the empress has fallen silent over the years.. And I guess the emperor has a wife of his own which resulted with countess eunice and his mistress with his son.. Cause Grand duke had the rights to be next emperor but he was not a direct linage since he was the grandson of the current empress, he was sparred... And also they still need to make it seem like the children of empress died with other reasons than being assassinated...
Also, I have suspected of the emperor of covering the tracks of the Rozan family's poisoning incident as well and helped Miraila covered her dirt..
Like, tbh, Tia has a long way to go to shutter everything the emperor has built. And because Grand duke is too good for his own good.. Tia will do all the dirty work to achieve her goals.
