Minjae is a selfish horrible person but I can see why he only cares about one thing in life and that thing being his father because his father is the one who saved him from his horrible traumatic childhood. Also if he would have healed himself with therapy and other things I think he would become a better person and that would create the possibility for a redemption arch.
