I think it's too late. I have been thinking why the previous chapter disappointed me so much. It's because the author caved into pressure and created a 'Seungho' alternative to appease the whiners. In the process, it completely undermines the strongest character and the reason to root for him.
Seungho was the amazing character of this story and what makes the dynamic interesting is that no matter what, it was Seungho who drove the story forward. However, in order for a character like Seungho to shine, he needs development and he needs to be perceived as the most powerful character. This is no longer true. When the author created a character that overshadows his main seme, it emasculated him.
The nameless assassin is hotter, and because he is new he is now more interesting. Seungho already lost no matter how the story goes because the author minimized and replaced him with a more palatable version. The assassination plot is all but watered down because we know that the assassin will not really do anything terrible to Nakyum. Seungho will not kill him because once a character becomes popular, it is the one who drives the story.
I find it puzzling when authors sabotage their own MCs like this.
There is nothing else for Seungho in this story and despite the wild dreams of some, if the new character were to be magically a new love interest for Nakyum that would be even more of a mess --- because that would mean Nakyum in a short period went from Inhun to Seungho to a brainless muscle character without any development.
Once a character becomes popular, crowds will demand more screen time, what means that Seungho ( and Nakyum) plots will be sacrificed or minimized to make space for the new hot character to please audience.
It amazes me how many good stories are driven by audience bullying and the author caving in even if sacrifice the MCs.
The chapters of this story are just too short to be split between two semes and since Seungho has already hate, it is all but gone his place in this story.
I feel sad that a clone Seungho was created just to cater to the louder readers that couldn't accept that the main character was not up to their standards of moral.
oh well, authors are humans after all and POTN became so popular that it must be impossible by now for the author not to fall into pressure.
well, I disagree with you on a lot of what you just said, but won't go into everything.
But I definitely believe that the latest episode was preplanned. everything about the setup, the actions showed that this had been premeditated by the author. It takes quite a bit of technical skill to write two confrontations simultaneously, and I cannot imagine Byeonduck would set up such a technically exhausting scene upon a whim.
Plus, we already knew that other characters have been demanding to witness Nakyum in bed, and therefore knew this issue would soon have to present itself, and find its solution; whichever way it ends up.
and no, I just don't think assassin overpowers the plot or Seungho. You lost me on that one
If the chapter had not been centered so much on showing case the hotness of the assassin I would agree with you. However we get a scene with the assassin having sex, he spends the whole chapter semi nude and establishing his dominance.
We read Yaoi long enough to understand that his role is beyond to add the assassination plot, he came to please and smut.
I love hot and smut as much as the next fujoshi but my point is that the nameless assassin already overshadows Seungho, either we admit it or not. Reason is simple: if you are the only alpha and the only one on spotlight, any addition to the stage of any other character already makes you smaller because you now have to split the stage with other attraction. Another point that I find it hard to deflect: Seungho needed more fans rooting for him, more reasons to be rooted for, not less. The nameless guy does exactly that: why root for the rapist asshole when the author added a hotter, 'lesser evil twin' that readers may want to see more?
It is all about who pulls the strings and draws the crowd and creating a character that overshadows your main character will surely change the whole dynamic of the story, especially if you are the kind of author who changes the story to please audience --- what by the way, it's something the author already admitted doing.
That the author had plans for an assassination plot is not in question .... but how the assassin is portrayed and his hotness is very well designed as a Seungho's clone that is meant as second lead that will not die nor be the threat after all that will really harm Nakyum.
There is absolutely no way to look at the nameless assassin and not guess that he will drive the story more than Seungho because he is the seme that everyone can root for without guilt or being shamed.
There are so many stories where the author tried to add second characters and they took over the stage and unfortunately, being Seungho already unpopular, I don't see how he doesn't end up being the loser already ( and by consequence Nakyum because as I said, unless this become a utter shitfest with change of love interest, Nakyum development is linked to Seungho).
Watch and see how many chapters will be eaten by more scenes of smuttly shirtless nameless assassin because that is what the loudest readers will ask for ... and the author will deliver since it's too late now to make the nameless less of a competition for Seungho or prevent him from stealing the MCs spotlight.

I know that everyone has strong opinions about what will happen/ what's happening, but please try to keep the discussion away from the author! We're just an audience and we don't have a right to persuade their work. It's really sad when a writer strays from the plot they had planned in order to keep the audience happy.
Byeonduck has admitted doing this in the past with sex scenes, in order to keep the viewership happy. The other day, they made a post on Twitter about the amount of comments about Seungho.
Trust me, the last thing we want is for Byeonduck to write scenes that would be out of character for Seungho in order to keep the readers happy.
Just let the writer do their work...
