it was a terrible decision, to use real cultures and countries when the author clearly hasn’t done enough research on it. using other cultures as inspiration or doing extensive research to be able to use other countries as inspiration isn’t a bad thing; in fact, it’s great when it’s done correctly.

but like, it’s so incorrect it’s kind of embarrassing. the author should’ve just left out any arab culture. most aspects of the story is just weird and wrong; the clothing, the government rulings, the historic-looking time period...it’s just so odd to read about. should’ve sticked to the typical european monarchy if you’re going to have that white male lead who’s a blonde with blue eyes (not to say that no arabs have blonde hair/blue eyes, but it’s a minority, plus the already pathetic portrayals of my culture shows that it doesn’t really care for the actual people) if you’re going to butcher arab/islamic culture this badly. should’ve just done the typical king/duke shit, honestly.

just imagine it as a fantasy story with a bit of arabe and Islamic culture thrown in there it will be a much better read and you're right this manga sacrifices its research for originality

If it didn't use real places then anybody could. But this uses a real real country and completely ignored it's culture, the working of the religion and the responsibility to uphold it the on ruling family.
