I read another novel with similar plot 'I should have read the ending', the FL figure out that the emperor acting like scumbag because he was under the witch spell, that's explain why he acting like crazy shit that out of his mind, but half of it was also his fault, and the pain is real, so she choose another path.
It's the same with this novel, even if he was indeed poisoned by Zena (some people use this to justify his action), you can clearly see at the beginning when Tia return to the past, you could see his blatant hatred toward Tia even when she is just a child and haven't done anything yet, just because everyone keep comparing him with Tia, saying she is a lot better than him, and Tia was adored by his parents while he is being ignored. Even if he was poisoned that make him violent, if he wasn't blinded by his hatred in the first pace, there is no way he would abused her. Even he admitted it himself.
