start with the anime
imo the anime and the manga aren't really comparable, they're barely alike at all. compared to the manga, the anime is pretty shit. i recommend reading the manga only and avoiding the anime, but if you want to talk to your friend about banana fish stuff you may as well watch the anime as well.

Hi guys, so i need ur help. Should i read the manga or watch the anime first? I definitely want to do both but im not sure which one would be better to start with. My friend has watched it and said that she was so fuxxed after that and cried for a whole week, thats why i was kindof avoiding this but im finally ready so tell me ur opinions!
