Um...to be fair, the Emperor didn't get in the way of the trial. He allowed Rizi to conduct the trial. He gave her full rights and privilege to investigate the case. However, Rizi couldn't find conclusive evidence because Rose covered her tracks. In the end, Rizi concluded with a Duke to get a false confession from a made up assassin. During the trial, Lucio knew the confession was false, but was about to side with Rizi until Duke Ephriney jumped in and provided a different evidence. This muddled the case. So Lucio had someone else investigate. After investigating, they concluded both evidence were falsified and so the case was thrown out. At least that's what happened in the novel.

But he also pleads for her life even IF she is guilty to Rizi...

He asks Rizi to not kill Rosemond, but he'll accept any other punishment Rizi asks for. But he just ASKS for Rizi not to kill Rosemond. However, when Rizi pushes Lucio saying she will kill Rosemond if she has sufficient evidence, Lucio stays quiet. When Rizi presented the false evidence in the trial, she even stares at Lucio, waiting for him to step in, but he stays quiet. Rizi was about to sentence Rose to death with Duke Ephreney is the one that interrupted her.

Why are you giving misinformation wildly just because you hate the ML? Did you even read the novel?

I will say the ML is divisive even for people who read the novel. Some people hate him, some people are happy with the ending. For me, after I finished the main story, I was okay with the ending. I LIKED that their love story wasn't really love. It was more of Lucio switching his dependency from Rose to Rizi. However, after finally caving and paying $5 for the ending, I can say I really, really like the ending. Once Rose is out of the picture and the toxic people are out of Lucio's life, he matures a lot. It's nice seeing an abused victim survive his trauma. It just occurred to me that when Lucio was with Rose, she would encourage him to have his psychotic breakdown. She saw it as a chance to cement her spot as his favored concubine, that he has no one except her. However, once he gets with Rizi and is in a HEALTHY relationship, not a single episode.

I'm not defending him. But your exaggerated misinformation isnt needed inside the comment section. You put it behind "spoiler" and not as your own opinion. I hate misinformation above everything else.

Also weak and broken ML that tries to redeem themselves at the end through the MC is a refreshing theme. Which is why I enjoyed the story so much, and why I don't hate the emperor like everyone else. I enjoyed seeing his progression. I understand why the hate, but sometimes it goes beyond ridiculous resentment. He's not even Soveishit level of irredeemable feature lol.

SOVEISHIT!! Yes! That was his name from Remarried Empress. I forgot what the fans called him haha. Yeah, second timeline Lucio is miles better than Soveishit haha.
