That's some facts you speak if they really care they could have at least send a spy to see or send one of the royal pet in their human form to know if the kid is dead or alive, the royal family are stupid
Or hold a funeral
I get that they didn't visit them at all, but they could have at least tried to confirm their deaths or something, instead of doing nothing and forgetting about them
