Yeah sometimes the normal age guy is much better suited for the protagonist but the authors don't seem to bother give them a chance against older men (which is a little messed up)
I only remember one manga that the author had our FL end up with the boy her age and it made me really happy .. it's a cute story about country pumpkin going to a school in city and stuff but I don't remember the name
For me it's the opposite, the uncle makes my heart race and is interesting while the childhood friend is kinda ... meh. He isn't really special and I can't take him seriously bc he constantly blushes.

I mean, he is a uncle, plus he's old. If it was gonna be a older man I wished he actually looked older. cuz I don't mind age gap, this just wasn't a good story to have the male lead with a age gap. Most girls and women are attracted to older men/boys and not younger boys. Also disagree the childhood friend is pretty useless and bland with no flaw or character outside of blushing 24/7 (I swear to god can this trope die already) while the uncle is interesting and fighting his feelings.
