Exactly if it’s medieval times laws don’t apply to nobles especially royalty. Only time laws apply is if it’s continent to the king and I doubt he wants to get rid of his son

that's the thing though, since it's obvious the queen had some part in his plan and with how laid back the king is, she probably has him wrapped around her finger and could easily twist it into the prince's, her son's, favor.
