I think it the depends on the character backgroung, i think romance is fitting for this story, it's not about revenge of any kind, is just a lonely dude that is learning what is like to live in a loving enviroment and getting strong for the sake of protecting his loved ones, so is very fitting for him to fall in love(▰˘◡˘▰)
Tomb raider king is all about revenge and second comming of gluttony is about surviving, there is room for romance in both of them but is not as fitting
Romance plays heavily on his development though -- the type where he could abandon the world to be with his family and the woman he loves. I seriously have nothing against romance. But for some reason, I dislike the idea of romance being inserted on this type of story. (The beginning after the end, tomb raider king, second coming of gluttony) *sigh* or maybe i'm just lonely
