Right? I didnt read ahead but based on the story giving all these red herrings. Also, he is next in line to the throne. The untold variable that hot added to the mix. If he sets the emperor up and ruins his relationships with the people and church then everything will work in his favor. Also, that childrens book is hella prophetic

i realized he was the bad guy after he told mia that leana is just the queen and the empress spot is still open. he knew mia liked the emperor and he encouraged her to continue, to become empress. idk why he wasn't in the original novel though, but the emperor is known as the "villain". i'm just wondering if the blonde brother is the "true" villain.
