Lol, I actually remember dropping this story before because I didn’t like how the ML hit the MC. Came back again without sympathizing with anyone so I could appreciate the story without judgement. Much better reading experience.
I don’t mind the ML’s behavior as much as I did back then, because logically— I know that he behaves this way regardless of who he does business with. It’s not personal, it’s two strangers. He’s pretty ruthless but I’m not expecting a kind man with that line of work. So I’m fairly surprised that he’s acting decent despite our first impressions. Imo he’s better than the bf and the bad boy coworker.
In this case, the mafia dude assaulted him; it wasn’t abuse since he just came to collect the money the guy owed him. But when his ex hits him that’s so different because they are already in a relationship which means both parties should treasure and protect one another. So the ex hitting him is a violation of that relationship and like you said that is abuse. Even though both of the semes hit the uke because the context in which it happened is so vastly different you can’t equate their actions. Like if some random lady slapped me I would be angry but if my friend hit me I would be devastated since that action in itself violates so much of the connections that I’ve established with her like trust, respect, and etc
This is just my personal opinion tho for this story. I think in any realistic viewpoint tho, a relationship shouldn’t start off on such a toxic foundation where there’s a clear power imbalance. (I mean the mafia dude here)
I see some people going like the mafia dude also hit him but there’s a huge difference between ur significant other beating you vs a random stranger whom you’ve had no interaction with/no prior relationship
