I think that if you are an incarnation you are an addition, not a restart. Also you are the same soul. In fact I think it is very optimistic and great that someone loves your soul. not your body or your circumstances. Cause if we are only our memories (and based on what you are saying) then if my husband loses his memories due to an accident I will stop loving him? Of course things that happened define us, but if we are to trust to reincarnation and destined lovers we must see that the new memories at some point will be added (and merge) to the old ones. If the story goes to the direction "old memories lost" even then if the soul is the essence of the person, the immortal part, then I do get going after the same person again. You do not see the clone of another, you are deeply in love with his core
I used to really like stories where lovers reincarnate and find each other again but then like in betrayal knows my name, it’s kinda heartbreaking to read how the immortal one/one who kept the memories keeps on seeing his past lover on the reincarnated one/who did not keep the memories and became a whole new person. I mean, technically memories make you your own person so doesnt that mean you are a different person entirely? Tho it is touching for someone to love someone for so long and it is also sad to be forgotten.
I cant explain it well but i really am just sad for Ah Li :(
