someone correct me if i'm wrong but i think it's bc the real elena is "sick" and hasn't been attending social gatherings so she'll most likely lose face. i guess it's to keep her reputation up but i also remember someone saying that the fake elena is a stepping stone for the real elena to climb up to the throne (becoming empress). that's why in the original story, they killed the fake elena & the real elena returned.
someone pls spoil me why they needed her to replace the duke’s daughter when the real veronica is in fact alive ??? what is the point in making elena pretend to be the duke’s daughter?
