Ah now I get it a bit that it would be better, plot-wise, for Yiyi to go to an audition than get trained since the training part would be quite dragging and might not be interesting. I keep forgetting that this is fiction and it’ll be hard to apply rationally all that happens in the real world. But yes, he as an owner of a company would want to get his investment back, at least, by pushing his talents. It’s great to see the pov of others!
I don’t think he is a mean character. He can be a bit nosy, yes, but he just like to tease Jinyao. He is having fun teasing on the side, but when it comes to work, he is serious. He just poached Yi yun, he spent a lot of money to buy him off from Orange Entertainment. He needs to get his money’s worth and make sure that Yi yun will be famous. Yi yun’s acting is cringy, everyone including Jinyao knows that, but there is potential. It’s going to take too long if he takes acting lessons, it would be faster (and more interesting, plot-wise) if he signs up for an audition instead.

Yi yun’s definitely going to experience hardships, being an actor is not a walk in the park. His privacy will be threatened, there will be jealous co-actors who will not like him. But it’s up to Yi yun to surpass all that.
