I don’t think the twins can trust anyone especially those related to them. It would be better if they trusted their family more, and get on with the story
It's because their family is important to them, hence why they are quick not to trust them. Their family would have the power to hurt them deeply. Who cares whether they trust What's-his-name since he's just a random person...at least that's what I think they idea behind it is.
Blood relation does not equal automatic trust. Sometimes people who claim to be your family can betray you much worse than others. I understand why they are being overly cautious.

Just because ur family doesn't mean u trust them no, trust must be earned.
I'd feel the explanation they were given would warrant at least some more trust. instead of just a random noble coming in. they were just told their entire interpretation of their life was a lie; they should at the very least try to listen to understand some more before trusting a complete stranger with their lives.
Twin of fools. They would rather trust or appease a noble that's not even a blood relative.
And to think they are wary of the emperor but not on the noble that are mostly known to crave for power. Yeah, better let them rest in peace. Stupid.
