That is a good question. I have no idea why but I could say that you might be spot on at the trying to "protect" himself from completely falling and getting turned down. He is only hurting himself and Dongwoo with his playing around but I guess we will have to wait to find out more.
Yes his sister explained he sank into a terrible state after his homophobic breakup...but now it seems like he's forcing himself to be with other people to forget every possible outcome of interaction with dongwoo...
First time he tried to hook up with a guy in bar just because dongwoo told him that sex should be with people who like each other...so he thought that his feelings are one sided so he went to have that hook up but he left that guy in the middle of it to go play games with dongwoo. Then in ch 17 when he thought he must set dongwoo up with his sister ,since in seme's mind dongwoo like his sister not him , he went to see a girl he never contacted in a dance club....he got himself drunk and came back with signs of flirting with that girl but he looked like shit.
I'm intrigued by what actually happened on the day of the game tournament. Even Dong Woo brother recogonized him from that day after 2yrs. Cha Soo Jin was called a faggot and said he wanted to die... so this seems relevant to everything Soo Jin is doing.
