I think the point is that one should not discount love in order to show they are independent. You are independent when you control what you want.
That being said, I didn't like that. It put all women that focus on their careers before love under an umbrella when in reality, its far more complicated than that. Furthermore Future Nicki isn't cognizant of the fact being in a relationship as a women is different to being in a relationship with a man. For example, you could get pregnant, that shit puts you yeaaars behind your male counterparts. So I completely disagree with her but I suppose the point was that being independent and in love isn't mutually exclusive.
