I’m sorry but acknowledging that the situation was “acceptable” because of the context (different time) is completely different from normalizing it. I’m not agreeing to the concept of such a large age gap and everything but I understand that my values won’t 100% match because of the historical setting.
If you think that a shoujo manga having a 12 yr old and a 27 yr old together encourages normalization of such acts, then that’s a bit of stretch. People who read yandere themed mangas don’t normalize it or think it’s acceptable? They are merely consuming a fictional story. Don’t try to discourage or shame people for consuming content that you don’t agree with unless it’s illegal or is hurting someone directly. Simple.
Don’t defend it by saying she’s 33 mentally, because physically she’s in a 12 year old body, and the fact that they got married when she was 7 months old doesnt help anything. I don’t know what went through the authors heading, thinking and nodding saying this is a good idea for a manga.
Don’t defend it by saying, he hasn’t even touched her, because it’s still pedophilic.. it’s obvious that he has some sort of lingering feelings for her and it even has the romance tag
And finally don’t defend it because it was normal back then, you’re just allowing it to be normalized. It isn’t normal, she’s 12 and he’s 27. He’s old enough to be his brother. Imagine if you were in this kind of situation and were her parents, would you be uncomfortable with the fact you’re allowing your child to marry someone that was 15-17 while your child was 7 months old.
If you see no problem with this, please don’t even reply.. this manga has an interesting storyline and has great art, but i just wish it wasn’t with a 12 and 27 year old.
