Free! will go down in history because of the many styles of shipping that happened. Unless you just shipped them all together in a Poly/Harem style relationship there was no way to go unscathed.
Now when you're arguing about who's seme or uke at least you are agreeing on the same pairing, but when your friend ships another pairing it's like
