My ex husband was opposite of this. He would discuss our personal with his friends. That was so infuriating to me, since mine was an arrange marriage i had to endure it until i get confident enough to ask for divorce. But this damage my self esteem so much that even after a year i am not able to start a new relationship.

There are still plenty of places even within US where immigrant families still follow their culture. Luckily, once i decided to leave him my family supported me it was my fault that i didnt decide early but it better late then never.
