I think that it started in chapter 11 because he was nervous when he met his ex-. He kept reminiscing afterwards about her beautiful face in spite of her age and he said that back then he loved her. I got the feeling too that in that chapter he was trying to reassure himself that it was REALLY over (hence he still has doubts).

I also believe that his slip of the tongue was unreasonable because he didn't want the guys from the media to hear it in the first place so it was like a monologue (but why would a guy think like that if he wasn't still in love with his ex- ?).

Furthermore, the words "marriage is a curse" are worst then his slip of the tongue (a "curse" for whom and why?). Now Asuka picked on it and understood that ... his face at the end of chapter 13 doesn't look good, obviously he is still lingering over his past. Phew, what a mess! I don't know ... is it possible that they'll break up?! This is the lingering questions waiting for a response from chapter 14.
