I mean I get that could really traumatize someone because he doesn't know what happened to the girl. He's blaming himself about it because he thought it was his fault she was ostracized and had to leave and that resulted him to close himself off and doesn't speak his mind. But then again, it doesn't make sense because it doesn't really have any connection as to why he's acting so kind to the MC and misleading him like????

I may seem like I'm overlooking this and invalidating his feelings. But after rereading that, it just really leads me to "Wait what?" I just can't pinpoint what exactly is wrong with that but I feel something doesn't really connect here

And he said what happened made him not want to be deeply involved with anyone anymore. I guess that's the part that doesn't make sense for me. Everything he did since chapter 1 with the MC are things you do to someone you want to be deeply involved with and yet he stated he doesn't feel that way towards the MC and yet his kindness was really misleading.
