Yall i heard a spoiler that nine has a twin, so maybe that "nine" with melissa is actually nine's twin, nine's twin is the strongest (they say), and the red werewolf wants to beat nine's twin, but he cant, so he just beat nine cause they similar anyways and just think of nine as the twin
