I think Danny kissing Oz was partly a half-hearted attempt at understanding why Theo would prioritize Oz over him, partly a way of asserting dominance. It's basically a more forceful way of saying "What's so great about... anyway".

maybe my way of thinking is a bit shallow but i kind of got the impression that danny was in love with theo or at least the idea of him and that this was the only way to feel close to theo or of any gay interaction cuz this man is as far back in the closet as it gets and he was pretty shocked at his own actions so the end was maybe just internalized homophobia but it’s pretty open to interpretation just wanted to show my pov
I thought the same at one point, but I felt like it was pointed out in a couple of places that that wasn't the case, and that it was really about a brotherly bond (especially with all the parallels to Danny's big brother). To my mind, one of the overarching themes of the book is the sacrifices we make for love, including the pain we're willing to inflict on both ourselves and others for the sake of love. Toward the end, Theo points out that, by having experienced Jean (Gene?) leaving, he understands the consequences that him leaving will have for his family and Danny especially, yet he still decides to do it. This is monumental, as he has generally put the needs and wants of others before his own (at least until getting involved with Oz). If Danny were to have feelings for Theo, however, I feel like that would cheapen that message, i.e. Theo would not be hurting Danny with open eyes, but rather unintentionally. As you say, however, it's very much open to interpretation, and in a more run-of-the-mill BL, Danny would definitely have been shown to harbor feelings for Theo, so it's more that I prefer this interpretation than that I think it's unequivocal.
WTF so fucking magnificent! Everything was good, the art, the story, the characters, the plot, damn just everything. One thing im confused tho, why tf did danny kiss oz, was it like for just a taste or heat of the moment? i mean i loved it hahahahahahaha since the sexual tension was so high but god idk i just love this story a lot. It's such a breather from all standard yaoi fuckfest, well not that i hate those, but like well, it's just nice to find a read as good as this
