of course not, I've been in a situation like that myself. This is unrealistically portrayed, it's not that he didn't fight back but he didn't fight at all. It was just an awfully written character in an awfully written story. His way of thinking was completely illogical for an adult. Even a 5 year old would have made a better decision. I'm only speaking about a fact. I doubt a person in real life would have reacted that way, unless he/she was burdened by a mental illness or trauma.That would be different.The uke had none of those.
